So apparently some people think that old people are boring or dull??? Well I'm going to attempt to dispel that thought because that's honestly crazy...
Okay so first off readers, old people are actually full of wisdom and humor. Now I'm sure there are exceptions, but for the most part they can actually be really cool. For example, when Bobby first sat next to me on my first day of ASL at the college, I had no idea what to expect. At first we were just friendly but as the weeks turned into months, we became friends. Bobby continues to impart wisdom and crack me up; sometimes simultaneously. What makes an old person not boring is their incredible stories. They have lived so many years and to just to hear about their lives can be really interesting. Really all it takes is just spending the time to get to know an old person. While yes they will have their senior moments, (telling the same story multiple times or frequent complaining) they are able to remain interesting.
Bobby has told me some amazing stories; from the time he was in a tsunami, to the time he worked as a veterinarian for three years. One humorous part of his story of being a veterinarian was him de-barking dogs. He told me that he would perform the procedure, yet a few days later they would start barking again! (He told me this story during class and for a second I thought he meant he was cutting bark off a tree and I got really confused and started laughing. (It was a lot funnier in person) Just like making a new friend, at first they may not seem all that charismatic, but once you get to know them they become hilarious.
A few complaints/stereotypes I've heard from young people is that older people aren't cool or hate young people or that older people do not have a sense of humor or that they aren't into tech. Okay yes, a few old people can be grouchy but a lot of the Vets I have seen while visiting Bobby at the Veterans home, many have been completely opposite of those stereotypes. I have seen most of the people living there with smart phones or even the newest iPhone. In the time I have been friends with Bobby he has bought a smart phone because he wanted to take pictures and do all the things I could do with my phone, and he has learned to use his laptop to the point where he doesn't need my help to access his email or homework from the college anymore.
All the Vets are always cracking jokes and making fun of each other and just having a great time; to the point where I find it impossible for someone to be bored with them.
One final note I would like to make is that we need to respect these people more, not just Veterans but all our elders. They have been alive for so much longer and have so much more wisdom than we young people have. Just make sure you never take for granted your older people in your life, because as sad as it is, you never know if when you see them will be the last you get to see them alive...
Until next Friday night,
Adios!
P.S. I did not get to visit Bobby today because he had to go to the DMV because he was trying to get his drivers license...so as of right now I will have a post up about next Friday...

Aw! You're so right! Older people have lived so much longer than us and experienced so much more you just have to be willing to listen! I love reading your posts about bobby, he seems like a really cool guy and it seems like you're really enjoying this project and I think that's great!
