As you can tell by the title, this post will be about my mentor interview. As my mentor I have chosen my mom; she is always there for me and supportive of me. She even contributed developing the idea for Adopt-a-Vet. I believe she is highly qualified. To find out more I decided to interview her.
Q: What qualifies you to assist me with this project?
A: I have been happily assisting in your projects for the last 12 years of school. I can help think of ideas and make suggestions from an adult perspective that you might not think of.
Q: What do you do for work?
A: I get to privately teach violin/fiddle lessons to students of all ages.
Q: Why do you want to help on a project such as this?
A: I feel there is strong value in the project that you have selected. I want to see it become a success and am willing to do whatever I can to help you in your efforts. Helping veterans is a great cause!
Q: Have you ever meet the famous Bobby?
A: Not yet, but I hope to in the near future!
Q: Do you have previous experience working with older people and/or veterans? If so could you briefly elaborate?
A: I have not worked with veterans specifically, but over the years, many of my music students have been older and or veterans.
Q: Where would you like to see this project go in the future?
A: I would like to see this project become expanded to other students to participate in. I see it being of great value to connect the older and younger generations. There is a wealth of benefits that can be gained from millennials reaching out to connect with an older generation.
Q: Do you foresee any possible obstacle within this project?
A: Not in the near future. Expanding and turning it into an actual "program" might be a potential challenge, but we will have to wait and see.
Q: Can you tell me three fun facts about yourself so that your reader has buy-in to my interview and feels a connection to the project?
A: 1) I LOVE teaching music and some of my favorite violin/fiddle students have been veterans!
2) I'm EXCITED for you to have this opportunity to be a BLESSING to a VETERAN and in turn, I know you also will be blessed!
3) I'm so PROUD that you are my Son, that were willing to become FRIENDS with Bobby, and now you are now stepping out to make this experience your project!
Thank you so much for assisting me on this project mom!!! I hope we are successful and have a fun great time while we work together to make a positive difference in our community. I'm sure this will be a success!
P.S. For those curious to see a photo of the famous Bobby, here you go :)

YAY! Bobby is a good sport! I think the picture helps we blog readers to identify and become emotionally invested in your project. I really look forward to reading ab out this project!
ReplyDeleteOk, first... can we talk about Bobby's fashion sense? Because his shirt game is on point! Second, your mom sounds like the perfect choice as a mentor and good job on this interview. Your writing is entertaining to read. I totally get why your mom is proud of you :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your idea and how you and your mom want to get others involved! It's important to connect with people beyond our own generations.
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome project! I would totally love to get involved! You probably already talked about but either I missed it or I forgot... Who's the famous Bobby? He seems awesome ;).
